Setting goals can save you from the possibility of being homeless
I read about this in a forum today which brought up the subject of setting goals in all areas of life. About 3 to 4 years ago I set up a goal to become debt free in 2 years. Well it took me a little longer, but I am now debt free. We own our home, cars, building and all our furnishings.
With that said, I have to tell you in order to do that we had to downgrade to a cheaper home and paid everything extra we had this whole time to pay that and the other things off. It was not easy at all and like troopers we stuck with it.
This whole thing was started when I did severe damage to my back and was unable to work (which I am since doing much better). Now that scarred me, so I wanted to make sure that if this was a permanent situation or if my husband was hurt or laid off of work, that we would be able to make it.
I am now picking up money from my Freelance work and we seemed to be doing great as far as savings go and the extras we want. Making goals and sticking with them can change your life like you never dreamed of.
Thank goodness we had already done this, because my husband was laid off of work this morning with no notice. Now I am not happy at all about this in no way shape or form, but I know that we will be just fine because of the early planning for just such an event.
I would encourage each of you to do this very thing or at least have a plan. You never know when it just might be you out in the cold, or up the creek without a paddle. I am posting new jobs this very hour. I have been online all morning setting him up with unemployment and getting the ball running, which is why I am so late.
