Have A Great Labor Day!
Today is September 1, 2008 and Labor Day! So instead of a usual post I would like to write about the reason for Labor Day and the first Labor Day ever observed.
This holiday was created to honor all workers in the United States and was first thought of in 1882 by the Central Labor Union. In New York September 5, 1882 is where the very first Labor Day was celebrated. In 1884, the day was set to be for ever held on the first Monday in September. In 1894, Labor Day was passed by Congress to be a national holiday.
